The High School Writer's Workshop is a high school level writing elective to enhance a student's ability to write creatively and effectively. This class will still cover the 8th grade standards, but students will apply those standards at a higher, and more advanced level. Students will analyze different writing styles to enhance their own writing and become more confident as writers.
We will look at various texts throughout the year as well as read novels with particular themes such as perseverance and resilience. Students will then write their own essays and narratives that highlight the power of the word.
I am very excited about teaching this class because I know deep down students want to become powerful writers; they just need some encouragement and direction.
